BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to an area near the intersection of Midway Lane and Hammer Drive about 8:45am, Friday, May 6th, due to a report of a car versus pedestrian incident.
The victim was declared dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing 2 people arguing nearby prior to the collision and it was thought 1 was the victim while the other was the driver.
Bellingham Police Department Spokesperson Lieutenant Claudia Murphy told Whatcom News via email they are seeking the public’s help in looking for a dark Ford SUV which fled the scene.
Detectives are anticipating front end damage can be seen on the SUV. Anyone with knowledge of the incident or the location of said SUV, please call 9-1-1 immediately. Midway Lane and Hammer Drive were closed until 1:30pm while the crime scene investigation was underway.
